There are times when you feel something. Something special. You know especially when you are quoted saying, “I haven’t felt like this in a long time.” Chances are we’ve all felt like it, a lot more recently than we say, we just don’t remember. Anyhow, trying to instill logic into a scenario involving feelings seems moot, as feelings are not easily pushed aside for a logical explanation.
In life, we should always fight for what our hearts tell us. Sometimes that doesn’t fall into the restraints of right and wrong. To give up is to acknowledge the fear of the unknown, and not to challenge yourself. Not to push yourself to new experiences and give yourself a jolt of rejuvenation in life. To keep ourselves in the dark and dusky crevices of the comfortable is to victimize ourselves of the beauty of life. It’s not right, in any sense of the word.
Your life is yours. At the end of the day, you have to live with yourself. People come and go, but you will always be there for you. What are you going to say to yourself about that thing you wanted to do, but never did because you were afraid of the consequences? In 10 years, you’ll look back and say, “What if?” Why subject yourself to the “what if’s” in life, when you can seek it out and find out at that time?
With all the over stimulation of today’s society, what we want may seem to be what’s just in front of us. That beautiful someone across the street. They’re out of my league. I don’t deserve them. Well how do you know unless you go over and say hello? A man and a woman are meant to be together. Looks are a means of initial attraction. They’re only out of your league because you tell yourself that. Just do what your ancestors did, and go after what you want.
What about that solemn video game that makes us feel good? These video games are just extensions of real life for the lazy. Not to be hypocritical, as I enjoy a video game once in a while. But only for the enjoyment of life’s actual limitation. I can’t fly, for I don’t have wings. I can’t shoot people without subjecting myself to the conformity of a military system. In a legal sense, anyway. What we do from the comforts of our own home is adventure out into a world created for us, when the real world is waiting to be challenged by you.
For once in my life, I know exactly what it is I want. I see future with it. And yet, it’s an arm’s length away, and only getting farther. But I won’t stop fighting. I won’t stop fighting for something that I feel, believe, and know, is what I want. I won’t give up.
Well, maybe I’ll give up for the duration of the Netherlands vs. Cameroon game. Yea, you can wait. Where’s my vuvuzela…
